I went from my 08 Heritage with the 96 & Stage 1 to the 2011 FLHTK with a Stage 1 with dynotune & both ran great but it hasn't been HUGE. The one thing I've noticed is that riding 2-up it has plenty of torque which equals less down shifting. I'm guessing that once I remove the CAT & replace the stock head pipes I'll see more of an improvement.
Dyno sheet attached after the Stage 1 & Dynotune. (PC-V, SE A\C, & V&H Hi-Outputs)
I sorta skipped the EVO -88-96 Era rode my shovel till i got old enough to want a bagger and bought a 11 SG that handles like a dream.
The engine is a lil bit of a downer......2000 miles of cooking my privates and my right leg has gotten a lil old and it just seems lacking somewhere on the power ....hopefully the suggestion of some of the folks ive met thru here will get this thing to get out of its own way,the potential is there
The stock cams are meant to satisfy the EPA by burning the fuel efficiently, "cooking your privates" in the process. Once you get a decent cam and a good tune, you will forget all about the heat.
Edit: You don't nead a monster cam to accomplish this. A mild cam will solve your problems!

I am on top of it and hope to have this thing running MUCH better by bike week..all she is getting right off is a pipe,ac and a good tune
I just picked up my 2011 Road King Classic today (traded my 2005 Heritage Classic 88B in)... I have 167 miles on it now and even though I am in "break in mod" I can tell I made the right decision !! I am looking forward to a Stage One and some pipes (can anyone recommend pipes or slip-ons?)
i rode a limited last year with the wife on the back and wasnt to impressed with the 103. i would rather build my own. which is what i did on my 09 SG now that thing had some *****. it had forged pistons adjustable push rods 259e cams SE heads compresion releases and ratio was 10.5.1 with cometic head gaskets. and then i sold it.
I went from a 06 Ultra to a 2011 Limited and the MOCO has made a lot of improvements on the touring models. My favorite by far is letting us have a 103 from the factory. It's 4:45 AM here and I'm just waiting for the coffee to finish so I can go for a ride. The wife and I rode it yesterday for the first ride (200 miles) together, she loves it
I went from the 96 in on a 07 Softail Standard to the 103 in on a 09 Road King and I just love it. Its a former cop bike and I have not done anything to it. Proably won't, I just like to ride em not work on em or supe them up.

I put a stage 2 on my 09 RKC. Also has vance and hines power duals and vance and hines twin slash oval pipes. Great sound but a lot of the power and sound are due to the stage 2 103 build and the vance and hines power duals.
I had an 88 in a RKC with a stage I mode and a 95 kit in an 04 Ultra Classic. Bought both of those bikes used. The 103 in my new UC Ltd is the best motor so far. I wouldn't dare crack that engine open to add anything. It is not necessary. Whenever you crack open an engine, you run a very high risk of screwing up the balance of that motor, and for what? A few extra hp and a little more torque? (and a lot of new useless vibration?) And you get that only at rpms that you will NEVER ride at for any length of time at all if ever? Hell, go buy a Goldwing if you want a lot of horsepower and torque. You can add all the extras you want to a Harley engine, and you will still be left in the dust by most any sport bike right off the showroom floor. Get use to it. As for me, I will enjoy my stock 103...might consider later the addition of a PC and some other headers and mufflers, but that's way down the road.
+1... Sport bikes from 600cc and up just emarass us....Unless you are riding a couple of hundred mles!!
