07 and up is the 96" motor with the B168 inner bearings. 99-06 used the B148's. The SE inner bearings are one and the same made by Torrington so you can get them from HD now as well.
Buy a manual, read these write-ups, and along with an inner-bearing tool and the usual items in the average tool shed you're in business. The Torrington-Timkin B-168 bearings are part #24018-10 at $15/pr.
The inner bearings on the newer motors, they have 1" bearings, are not prone to the failures that in the older motors, they had 7/8" bearings, and even Andrews only sells the caged bearings in the 1" size not the full complement. Change the bearings yes, but to worry about whether they are the caged(Oem) style or the full comp style is kinda silly unless someone thinks they know more than Andrews.
I agree there's nothing wrong with the stock INA (caged) bearings and I've heard of no failures with these, but if you do change them you might as well install the more robust Torringtons that have double the number of needles. For only $15/pair it is good peace-of-mind, if nothing else.
What cams are you planning to use? I want low end torque. I am thinking SE 255's?
If you want low to mid range TQ (off idle to 4,000-4,500 RPM) in a Stage 1 96" you will be hard pressed to find a better set of cams than the SE 255's!
