I was reading in Fall 2010 HOG mag that HD has a new replacement 120 cubic inch, 135 HP, 137 Ft. Lbs. of torque that will bolt right into 2007 and later touring models, using the stock transmission, with minor upgrades etc. and for a reasonable price of $5495. But, they say "it's not for street use" Right? In states (Calif.) that check those things. But for the rest of us,
might be something to thing about instead of spending $$ replacing cams etc. in the 96 and 103 motors.
I read the same article and had the same thoughts. The "off road use only" is on most performance items from HD anyway, so no worries there. The price seems like they are marketing it toward the masses, especially with the different model options. Tuning the motor for my bike, and finding good fuel are troubles I would like to have.
that makes me wonder, are they using twin cam harley motor cases, or the thicker jims variety with the casting for the bores that will accomodate the big bore better than the harley cases. i can imagine the abuse the rear tire is gonna be subjected to with that much torque.
Every after-market tuning part Harley has made for decades comes 'for off-road use only'. Change the stock mufflers and the bike will make more noise than the noise police want it to. Fit a 120R and it probably exceeds noise, emissions and every other thing a new vehicle should comply with.
Now do as Coolhawg6622 suggests and search this forum for 120R threads. There are real owners and actual dyno curves right here!
Dont you hate it when you do a search and you have to wade through all the useless threads that say do a search.... You guys that always say do a search even bother with the post???? Probably to pad your numbers I really wonder because it really is useless other than that.

Sam,
As a regular on HDF I am not alone in wearing my fingers out typing answers to new questions that have been done to death in recent threads, have kept us entertained for weeks and contain all the answers being asked in the new question.
If you search HDF for '120R' the first few threads all relate directly to this very engine. Get yourself a long drink and enjoy the read!

I just don't see the point. I've got a Stage I '07 RKC with a PCIII, V&H True Duals, V&H Dresser Ovals and a SE A/C. I can run down the turnpike at 80 mph, two up with a full load of luggage with ease. We also rode to the top of Mt. Evans (14,240') last August and it pulled us and our gear just fine. I've got more than enough power for two up touring. I weigh 185 lbs and my wife weighs 120 lbs. Maybe that's a factor.
From what I understand, the stock cam in those could also be replaced for daily driving. The numbers look good at first glance but the cams tend to want to make it run wide open all the time. If I had one I'd want torque cams.
