I'm an inch or so taller but have some old-age stuff that results in me being a pretty severe "sloucher" so I bet 14" is just right for you too. I'm seeing about an inch or maybe a little more over the top of the shield and have no wind-blast at all - very comfortable. OL says she is fine up top too. She's still pestered by side shakes though so I need a set of your lowers.

BTW - We're using a two-piece Mustang solo and passenger pillion. In addition, we normally don't use helmets here in FL but do have a couple of DOT beanie types for when we're in a State that calls for them. No wind-blast problem with them on either.

Finally, I like the idea of a Clearview too for long-distance touring but just don't have enough cash saved up yet for getting one as an option for special trips. If you do go that way though, please let me know your experiences too.

I'll take a cut at this one too but don't want to squash input from mtclassic...

There's a very lengthy thread on another forum WRT this question. Summary - most folks say results with either choice are modest but both types get the job done and there's no value added by having both.

I happened to get the newer plastic guys that redirect wind upward and closer to the backside of the fairing/windshield and, even living here in hot/humid FL, I can't tell any difference in engine temp. I do wonder though if those that selected the scoop type can detect any improvement in engine temp?

Another BTW for some of y'all - be aware that the plastic guys are advertised as not installable on scoots with the '09 and early '10 fuel tank mount retrofit but, despite that, it's easy to overcome with a small mod. For some others (me included), the scoop type won't fit under the triple tree on scoots with ABS.

mine is abs 2011 RGU and the baffle fits no problem, I removed it from my 04 when I traded and put it on as soon as I got the new one home. I literally only rode the bike 40 miles or so before putting it on. I did put the air deflectors on a short time later and noticed an improvement over just the air baffle. I am not certain how much if any the baffle actually made as I was still giddy when I put it on LOL.

That's good news mtclassic . Thanks man. I wanted to try one out but I heard from a local guy that they wouldn't fit on an ABS bike. Happy to hear that's probably wrong and now feel better about investing the effort to do a trial fit.

A couple of guys on the other forum also reported that using both didn't seem to change a bit but then some riders didn't even notice any change whatsoever by adding either one or the other too. To them, no add-on did anything but I sure can feel the improvement with mine (just the plastic so far).

Oh well, different folks, different strokes I guess. I'll try to fit both too and see what happens. These dealies are just too cheap to simply pass up the chance for some more improvement.

ETA: If I get the new scoop fitted I might not be able to feel any difference but will still leave it on just in case a bit of extra air is directed downward onto the engine. That sure can't hurt anything either way.
