Baffled by baffles

What effect on power and performance do baffles have? that is, torque, hp and gas mileage? Also wondering will it affect a dyno tune enough to reprogram? Thanks.

It will only matter if the exhaust flow is affected. Contact the manufacturer of the pipes you are comparing and ask the tech. support people on staff.

A very basic explanation is how they affect backpressure. Reducing back pressure will increase top end power. Reduce it to much and you lose bottom end torque. Too little backpressure and you over scavenge the cylinder. Any time you change how the engine breaths you affect the tune.

The larger the diameter of the baffle the more low end you'll lose along with milage. You can just run pipes without a tuner as long as you run a stock air filter.
