has anyone installed or had someone install a GPS type of finding devise on there bike. i have been looking at the type that uses goggle for tracking instead of paying a monthly fee for the service . don't really know allot about them-yet.it sounds easy enough to install and that an issue with me -when they say its easy it usually an,t-thanks
the system i an thinking about is installed on the bike and if the bike gets stolen it is able to be tracked on a GPS map. something like a tracker system that is installed on cross country trucks another form of lo jack. but if you install it yourself and get it up and running ,you can find the stolen bike by signing on to a goggle map and locating the GPS signal. if i pay to have a monitoring company do the monitoring ,is like $50.00 per month x three bikes ,it gets expensive-just trying to find out more info on protection for bikes
I just bought on E Bay the ZUMO 550 ! It is a GREAT GPS unit . Handles vibration and preplan routes with Hi-Lites along the way, BlueTootn Capable which means I can talk on my Head set and get calls thru it. It is a GREAT UNIT, BUT the cost for a used one was $500 !! It has 2 mounting systems included ( handle bar or Dash). I think any ZUMO would be a Great Add on ?
I'm using http://www.blacklinegps.com/ and I can control and track my vehicle with a Blackberry or at home from my computer and using Google satelite view to see the location. It is app. $180 CDN for one year unlimitted service.
One thing I like is the battery can last up to one week before. Of course it pluged on 12 volt but you can switck vehicle without aving to plug it.
Just one thing....dont tell your wife that you have one.....she will locate you all the time...lol (I just do spot check on her ,,,hihihi !)
Jason Fuller showed how to make one with a cell phone on Two Guys Garage a few weeks ago. He used a pay as you go phone, so 20 bucks for 3 months or something like that.
