I can't say I'm surprised that someone wants to make a buck. Its the American way after all. However, as much as I like the forum and look forward to the daily assless chaps conversations, I won't be paying to play. I like the patches though.......
I do agree with most of the other brothers. This is a great site and I am sure the only intent to create a "class status" is to generate cash flow. If there is money issues to keep this site operational, I agree with what others have suggested in creating a voluntary donation link. Otherwise, it is a GREAT site already, do not change it. Just my thoughts.
The main reason I come here as opposed to V-Twin Forum, is because they don't charge anything.
V-Twin Forum charges to be able to post and view pics.
if that happens here... I'l do the same thing I did at V-Twin Forums... I'll find a new forum to visit.
and HD Forums will also be sending me this email every month:
"Hello, Deuce Bigelow!
We've noticed that you've not been active on our site for quite some time now, and we'd like to invite you back to visit V-Twin Forum : Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Forums and see what's new."
there's a reason I haven't visited for quite some time!
So what's up with the 2011 changes? And why wasn't I informed I see a few are already "club members", what's up?
Jon
Jon,
It's in the experimental stages and will be going live pretty soon. The computer generated a list of members (by post count in each section) to upgrade for the test procedure. All the Mods and Admin were upgraded too. It will all be coming out in an announcement soon. We will not be a "paying" site but you will be able to upgrade your account if you wish. There will be patches, decals and the little insignia next to your name like on my account.
Take Care,
Terry
So everything stays as-is for people who choose not to go "upgraded", correct? I used to visit v-twin forums but they charge you just to see pictures and give limited privileges to those who don't.
This is a great site, but I've read a lot from people who are upset and worried it will fall into the same type of site as that other forum.
Thanks for the info, Terry.
Jon
The privileges you have as of right now will not change. You will actually be "upgraded" (more storage, more pm storage, larger avatar and picture stuff) from where the standard user is right now. We are not going to take anything away at all. I was very stern about that when they pitched this to me.
Take Care,
Terry
Like the rest of you, I was concerned and needed clarification. Sounds like Terry went to bat for us and things will stay the way they are, and will only be "upgraded" for people who want to.
This IS a great site and has helped me tremendously, so I'm going to give the changes the benefit of the doubt, that they will be as good or better than they already are. Hope this helps clear up some of your frustrations.
Well what will you get with the "Upgraded " part? Will they let you see pic's ? or will you only see some posts and others will not see the whole answers ? I mean if ALL is staying the same whats upgraded ? You must get something for it? Hey is that guy from the new HOT movie Social Network involved in here ? I hate that dude !! It is such a great site and a TOOL to use , information is sooooo important today

Quoting Terry, in my above post,

As it stands now, we all get the same benefits. And reading what he wrote, we actually get more than we had, and still pay nothing. (If I'm reading it correctly?) If you choose to upgrade, and pay, you will get even more. Go to the first post, and read. It tells you what you can get if you choose to upgrade.
P.S. Thanks for the "Thanked" Dawg Woohoo, my first one!
