A look at what is coming next year

I want to share something which we've been working on for the last several months. This is a new project, and we need some volunteers to help us test things out.

You've been hand selected by site staff, as someone who we'd be pleased to have as a volunteer for this project. Should you decide to accept, we'll offer you continued use of all features until the end of 2011.

We've put together come packages of site upgrades, and physical items, which we'll be adding to the site as forms of Premium Membership.

Nothing is being taken away from current members, and all new members will receive exactly the same features as they do today, I want to make that clear

We've created two tiers, 'Supporter' & 'Club Member', and each tier will carry an icon above each post that indicates their level of support. We've even made a moderator specific badge for all site staff. Check them each out here:

Both levels will receive additional forum features such as:
  • Custom usertitle
  • Colored username
  • Larger profile photo sizing
  • Slightly larger avatars & signatures
  • Increased PM space & the ability to message more users at once
  • More photo album space, and support for larger images
We've also added some neat, new features to the forum:
  • Panic Button
  • Radio & TV plugin
  • Keyword Alerts
  • Post Thank You Button

Panic Button: The Panic Button will be placed at the bottom right of every post on the site. Club Members can set a URL in their userCP on the options page, for it to automatically forward to if the boss shows up unexpectedly. (ie: google.com)

Radio & TV: This feature, for Club Members only is located in the middle of the navbar, will enable you to listen to your choice of radio, or TV station, right here on HDForums!

Keyword Alerts: This feature will allow Supporters to track any 1 keyword, so that they receive a notification via email, or PM each time it's mentioned on HDForums. Club Members will be able to track up to three keywords.

Post Thank You: This will allow Supporters & Club Members to offer thanks to other members who post a useful, or interesting post, without necessarily needing to make a reply. Thank you counts are tallied, and displayed under usernames.

Finally, we've got some physical stuff, that you can collect, and continue to add to. We're going to send out a site logo sticker to both Supporters & Club Members.

Club Members will also receive an embroidered site logo patch, and yearly chevron piece. The chevrons will be issued each year, offering an opportunity to display your support on an ongoing basis.

Here's a photo of a patch:

If you choose to help us by volunteering to test the program out, we’d like to offer you free access to the Club Member program for 2011. (And the stickers & patches, be sure to PM me with your home address). If you accept, we'll bump you into the Club Member group. This will automatically give you access to the features discussed. Your Club Member icon will appear beside your post count in each post you made. It is our hope that other members seeing the new icons, will be curious, and interested in how you got them. We'd like to use this opportunity to create a little buzz about the program before it launches. Feel free to share some of the new features that you have access to, and you can let on that it will be coming soon to everyone, or not, it's entirely up to you

I’m really excited to launch this program, I've had a lot of help from Terry & Patrick & Amanda along the way, so if you like it, I can't take all the credit, and if you hate it, it's all their ideas

cheers,
robb

DISCLAIMER: Big Admin has already contacted and brought onboard several "Chosen Ones" for this. I am not recruiting members nor am I a participant in this project. I just came by this info. soos

I wonder if we will get credit for our past donation before the big commercial takeover?

Very confused. Is there a shortfall in covering costs? Perhaps the advertising and sponsorship are insufficient - or is this a commercial enterprise intended to make money?

I would gladly pay a membership fee if it would get rid of the ads by other than forum sponsors, or at least get rid of non motorcycle related crap.

You need Firefox with adblock plus. No ads here! No fees either.

The Thank You feature is a bit too much like "Big Brother is watching you." You should at least make the display an option.

True that! I've been a member for 3 or 4 years now, been a donor/sponsor in the past. All of the new pics/graphics make this site soooooo long to upload now!
