To answer your question first All Knowing One with all of 251 posts. I get at least 10 requests a week for an HDF Patch or Sticker. We've sold them successfully twice in the past on HDF. If you don't want one of our stupid, silly, corny patched then my all means just ignore the rest of this post!

To all the boys and girls that want to know the truth about the New Riders Club and changes to HDF.

We have never been and never will be a paying site. I will not be a part of it if we ever go that route and I've been assured by the owners that we won't. I've been the admin here for 5 years now so I'm not gonna pull any punches here. A lot of you know me. I'm dissappointed with the reaction of this thread considering that none of you seem to have bothered to actually read the first post or even listen to the couple of people who have posted the accurate information a couple of times during this "Witch Burning" thread.

1) Nothing is gonna change from what you get for free here on HDF. The best part of what you get now (which is everything you see or have done over the past 6 years) will remain free. People who choose to join the club will get a few addition add ons like bigger avatars, sigs and more storage for pictures and pms. There are other things but that too is explained in the first thread on this post (which was leaked by someone who was given access to the club early).

2) The club is in the experimental stages right now so we gave free access to "me" and the mods and a few members whose names were generalted by the computer. We did not play favorites and it even kicked in a few "banned members" before myself or another mod caught the mistake.

3) The club does not have anything to do with the old "Contributor Ribbon" which a lot of us donated to years ago. I wish we still had the contributor ribbon and I was upset when it was "lost" during the change over to the new forum concept but that is water over the bridge and happend at least 3 years ago.

4) This forum is "for profit" for the owners. I figured you all would be smart enough to figure that out. Internet Brand did not buy it from Ralph a few years ago for fun. They have continued to keep HDF a "free" forum and will continue to. We have Sponsors to pay the bills around here and the ads will continue. We don't get to call the shots. We don't own the forum. You don't get to vote. You get to participate and if it's not your kinda thing then you don't have to particiapate.

5) The Riders Club will be going live pretty soon and all the prices and different features will be explained in an announcement.

If you have any questions just shoot me a pm. I'll be glad to discuss it without the constant juvinile bashing.

Thanks for clearing up the financial issues Terry. That is such a hot button issue these days. I hope to participate in this forum for a long time to come! Fred

Thanks Fred.

Just to add something to my above post. There were several of us involved in the planning stages of the Riders Club so they just didn't spring this on us and Ram it fown our throats. I got a lot of say in the decisions and I appreciate the fact that they came to me with the idea. They are actually trying to improve the forum and make it fun. This is not Sons of Anarchy. We are here to have fun, talk with each other and learn. I've been a member since Feb of 05 and there were 2500 of us back then. We are pushing 200,000 members now. It's hard to get to know everyone the way we used to. I've met and ridden with a bunch of members here and hope to continue to do the same. I've put a lot of time in this place and I don't plan on leaving anytime soon.

Take Care,
Terry

Terry, you are well respected here by myself, and all of this forum I am sure. I know you are aware of what happens to other sites that go to pay sites, I know that IB is here for the money, there is concern on my part, you may think it childish but I call it experienced. I like this forum a lot and dont want to see it go to the same fate as other forums. I dont really care for clubs or groups myself, so I am dont bothered by the club thing, except that you could have picked better color patches. Again, this is not bashing change, just genuine concern based on experience in other forums, MC and Auto forums. Hope you guys keep this site number one on my favorites tab.

You don't say!

So are the admins paid? Just curious - I can't imagine putting up with all the #$%* on this boardfor free to enrich InternetBrands bottom line.

On the whole I really like this forum but stratifying membership into different classes based on paid membership - well let's just say I'm not a big fan but since I'm just 1 in 200,000 and only an ordinary member I doubt anyone will really care. What ever.

Terry - and others, I am grateful for what you do here regardless.

How do you thank someone? - or do you have to be a paid member to do that? (so confused)
