Arrow 2007 road glide, mini apes, stock cables?

Ive heard that you can use the stock cables on the 10" wo515 and the outlaw z 12, is this true cause there doesnt look like much slack in the brake line.

Ive seen picks with the wo515 but im not sure I want all most a foot of pull back. The outlawz look more for me and th w with is the same as stock, but 12" is pushing it for Ppstock cables, maybe I should go with the 10" wat do yo u guys think?

I run the 8.5" Baby Apes on my '09 RG and I had to use a +2 clutch cable.

Hey man, I'm running the W1's OutlawZ 12's. The only thing you need is a longer throttle wire and patience. The dealer has the wire

you CAN do it, but, it isnt a good idea. i am now running 12 inch bagger nations on my king, and i believe that your stock bars are roughly the same as on a king. and going up that much, is going to stress your cables. not just your throttle cables, but your clutch cable too. not an issue, most of the time. but, turn in a parking lot, and try to control your scoot, and you will fully realize why you should have gone up in length for your cables. as you turn left, and try to release the clutch, you will have a different point of engagement as you do driving a straight line, or when you turn left. and as you turn right, you might see that your throttle lines are slow to return to the closed position, possible making your scoot wanna keep going, even if you dont want to.....

that's cute..... and cheap..... just like this.

do what you want, but if you ever build your own bike, instead of paying someone to do it, you could learn from your own mistakes, and try to help others learn from your mistakes too, and than your adventure can be less costly for you...

also, FLoTR, what year is your scoot? looks like a throttle by wire setup. Kevin's 2007 has what kind of throttle controls? not "throttle by wire"........... oooops, missed that one.... and looking at pics of your scoot, those look like a shiny clutch cable, (might have been just the sun hitting them, or my internet connection isnt getting a real clear picture) like a steel braided chrome clutch cable. if it is, and if you got it from the dealership, did you know that they are 2 inches longer than stock? if that is the case, i am sure that they do fit nicely......

so kevin, you can try it with stockers, and it might very well work out for you. but i would make sure that someone has a set of longer throttle cables, and clutch cable, and brake line that you can get to quickly. that way, if it doesnt work out the way you want it to, and you can put em on if you need to.

ride safe, cause they are alllllll trying to kill you, allllllll da time, wouldnt wanna end up on da hood of da car,
corb

You can use the stock clutch cable and brake with the 515s.
You just reroute the clutch cable through the center of the console.
Like Badpiggy observed, if you want to do it right get a +2 or +4.

The brake line and control wires were long enough for my application, might want to check yours as I have ABS.

I would not worry about the pull back. You can rotate the bars forward which is the "look" anyway. I did not find them too far back or restrictive...

Here are a few pictures of the 515s on my bike. Take in mind I replaced them with 502 (12.5" apes) a little later.

or my internet connection isnt getting a real clear picture) like a steel braided chrome clutch cable.

oops, missed the throttle thing. OK, he may need a throttle cable but I dont think he needs anything else to run the W1's 12 inch Outlaw Z bars. YOU, may need to move your laptop a little closer to your router because all of my hoses and cables are stock. I only changed the throttle wire because there's no way in hell someone is gonna pull all of the wires plus that big *** factory plug through the bars, but even those wires were long enough if not for the plug..... But, he may have money to throw around also, so what the hay?

as i said before, try it, but beforehand, i would insure that you have the parts available (throttle cables, brake lines, clutch cable, etc) so that if it doesnt work out, or he experiences some of the woes that i had before (parking lot, lock to lock turns, etc) he could be prepared, with no additional down time of the scoot, while waiting on parts being delivered. an ounce of preparation is worth a ton of the cure.....

i dont have any experience with the bars that you are discussing, and i have yet to own a RG, so i am definitely not the one of the subject matter experts here. however, i have done this type of thing more than a couple of times, on my own bikes (2 sporties in my younger/broker days, a '92 springer, and my two road kings, 2004, and 2000) sometimes i had money to toss around, others, not so much. nowadays, i seem to have a few more bucks, but i also have discovered a few more hobbies, and they are expensive too.... damn toys! lol!

as far as pulling your plug through the bars, me and a friend just did that a few months back, on his 2010 RG with Yaffee 14s. we didn't buy the extension kit. we did our own cutting, splicing, and heat shrinking. cut it down low, so you dont have to rewire the plug, and run the wires through the bar in reverse. (from the grips, down) worked great (his idea) we spliced in an extra 2 feet of wire on each (overkill, i know) so we had plenty of wire to work with, and i am a huge fan of the wire coat hanger trick. had a friend show it to me on my 120degree bend Yaffee bars, and i will use the coat hanger trick from here on out. and he thought about using stock cables, but we had longer ones on hand (preparation....) but, his bars are 14s, and obviously not the heights that kevin was asking about.

i try to use forums to help shed light on others projects by sharing my experiences, and get info/help/ideas from others projects for my own toys. and maybe learn some other useful information along the way, not to mock peoples advice.... smart azz comments are not necessary (although i am guilty of throwing out some zingers from time to time myself, of course, people giving out bad advice makes it easier for me....) if someone is giving bad advice (ie: wrong year group, parts, throttle by wire/throttle cables, etc.....) while mocking someone else's advice, well, that makes you look like you did not research the material, or just like to be heard, and will say anything to make yourself look higher/smarter/better than you really are, all while looking really, well, just plain foolish.

and it would be awesome if i could move it closer to a router that was worth a ****. i have a $2,400 MacBook Pro, and the picture is awesome. but, i am in afghanistan, (4th time round) so the internet sucks, but it is all i have until March/April, 2011.
