Default 2009 FLH docking install ??

Hello everyone. I am installing the 4 point detachable docking kit on my 09 FLH. The side docking plates have a 3 bolt pattern that lines up perfectly with the bolt holes in the fender struts. I have chrome fender strut covers. The fender struts have a hole for the front bolt, a half moon cut out for the middel bolt. The third and rear most bolt is covered by the chrome cover. There is nothing in the instructions about needing to drill through the chrome strut cover for the third bolt position. Put more simply, when I hold the docking plate to the strut cover I have a hole for first mounting bolt, a hole for the second mounting bolt, no hole for the third mounting bolt. Has anyone had this issue and what did you do? Thank you for any responses.

if you are using the stock chrome covers, you will have to drill -- ( the kit 53246-09a comes with replacement covers, license plate mount and antenna relocation hardware- I assume you did not buy this kit?).

The plate for the docking hardware will cover your drilled hole(s) if you are worried that it'll look crappy.

Thanks mkguitar, my local HD parts dept. is useless. They just don't have any product knowledge and therefore never tell customers the whole picture of what is needed to complete upgrades. Your info is greatly appreciated.
