I worked in the detail dept of a dealership for years. It's not the salt you can see that causes the problem. It's the microscopic stuff that get into every little cranny there is. It'll eat from the inside out. From paint to bearings. Don't risk new wheels or any other part of your bike!
Plus, washing the bike is only making it worse. That water rinses the salt down into places it wouldn't get to if it stayed dry. Anyone that thinks they can just wash it off will be sadly mistaken.
Its not a fine antique, drive it and when its old and rusty if it bothers you sell it to someone who (like me) can not or will not buy a new one and buy yourself a new shinny one. Enjoy IT, do not let it make you a slave to it either in body or mind. Of course I am just stating my opinion but I like mine best now that its got enough bumps and nicks and yes some rust that one more nick may make me shake my head buts that's as far as it goes. I still wipe it off and take 400 paper to the rear wheel once in a while but that good enough. Do put a seat cover on it since bike is covered with dew many a night when I leave work at 12AM

A well took care of bike can look as good as new, 20 years from now.
"Don't let it make you a slave" is a far cry from staying out of the salt.
That's not slavery.
