Default Which HD cams are street legal

Want to put the Andrews 54H cams in my new CVO SG. However, for the warranty's sake I want to at least look at the HD cams. Of course the cams have to fall into HD's "Street Legal" category. And as a follow up, which of the legal cams would work best with the 110 engine and V&H power duals and Monster Round slipons? Opinions please?

Default SE Cams

Hi Gary,

Just checked my 2010 SE Catalog... Every cam listed has the note "For race application only." I don't think you will find "steet legal" listed anywhere in the SE catalog... Other than you and your mechanic, who know's what cam is in your SE SG...

I had a SE 255 and now a Woods TW-7H in my 09 Ultra... Haven't had any warranty problems.

The cams themselves aren't legal or illegal, but technically the calibration that corresponds with them is what makes the difference. Harley would have to emissions certify each calibration for each displacement and cam combination. I doubt they did that for anything, except maybe the 96 with 255's.

If warranty is your concern, look very carefully at the exclusions. and if the guy who wants to sell you cams and install says that your factory warranty will not be voided- get it in writing.

I'll wait until my warranty is done before doing any motor work.

IF there were a problem, the stock mufflers, air cleaner and tuning will be restored before the dealer sees it.

The stock cam is the only 'street legal' cam available. When your bike was new and stock it had to comply with emissions and noise regulations, same as every other new bike and motor vehicle. As soon as any mods are done, the emissions are messed up.

The best you can do is to ask your local dealer to do the work and also ask them if they will either honour the warranty already on your bike. Ask their advice on parts to suit your bike, don't presume to tell them!

Frankly I would have asked these questions of the dealer before taking the bike away from their shop. If you haven't got it yet, ask them about doing these things as part of the total package, before you ride it away.

What why worry about it ???? Do what you want no ones gonna tear you down on the road to check, and for small things like Oil change or other stuff in this category no ones gonna check it unless you request it....

There are street legal 110 and 103 kits that include the SE255 cams.
27501-10 street legal 110 stage I
27557-08 street legal 103 stage II

both kits have several different configurations, just listed these two as examples.

as far a street legal i dont know but you could talk to your service manager and ask him if you were to change your cams with jims, andrews, s&s, knight prowler if that would affect your warranty-maybe you could have them do it to save your warranty. I havent sponged up the money for my 07 ultra yet but everything that i have read points me towards the Knight Prowler TW555. best of all Jamie at Fuel Moto (fuelmotousa.com) knows just about everything there is to know about tuning your engine after the cam swap.

my 2011 screamin eagle street legal down load cd (from the SEPST 41000008) says the 254 and 255's are street legal and has a legal down load for those cams.

Those cams are only compliant when used with that tune.
