Is it possible to just buy a top or lid for a tour pack?!?!?!? I installed the fancy hinge kit today and torqued it to what the sheet said and guess what????? The top CRACKED!!!!!!!!!!! WTF??? MFSOB!!!!!!!!!!! I took my time did it just the way the instructions said and F" ME!! Sorry Im a little pissed right now, Does anyone know if I can just order a lid/ top or am I phucked??
According to my parts manual, the tourpak is broken down into individual pieces so I would say the answer is yes. You would need to get the part # for the lid with the specific paint code. My '06 parts manual list the lid # but it is described as primed.
Saw this one on ebay but don't know if it's a good deal.

PM Dawg with your model/year/color and he can provide you with the painted part no.
Or, do the same thing at an HD parts counter and the guy can look it up on the computer in the "painted parts catalog" used for replacing painted parts due to damage.
Did you possibly mistake in. lbs torque spec, for ft. lbs.? If so, you wouldn't be the first.
Sorry to read of your trouble, especially on Christmas Eve.
If I remember right it only says to tighten them 18-24 inch pounds or something like that. All i did was snug them up using a a small driver. I am usually the one that does **** like you did. Sorry about your luck.
