Default What is this spring for?

...the one under the tour pak. 'O9 Ultra and was putting a lay-down license plate braket on, removing old plate and there is a long spring there. One end connected to the back-side of current plate bracket and other end clipped onto area around left-side speaker pod, running diagonally. No wires/cables guided by it. Any ideas before I remove it...Thanks. (Will post pic if I get a chance...)

Looks like the spring retains the wiring cable for the passenger headset plug thingy.

Thanks for the quick reply. I kind of thought that but on mine the head-set wire is on its own. Was going to install quick-detach tour-pak kit. Maybe something there will give me an idea. Cheers.

Yep it allows the passenger to pull the connector out and connect and then retract.

Seen the spring , when I first got My Ultra, just thought it was there to keep the wiring from rubbing on the fender. Hell, I learn something new every day.

Yeah that's what it's for. Also check to make sure it isn't rubbing on the fender like mine was.

Couple of months after I got my Ultra I was cleaning it, saw the spring and thought WTF. Pulled on the connector and figured it out. I guess that Purdue engineering degree finally paid off!!!
