Actually the switch everyone refers to as a "kill switch" is labeled "engine stop switch" in the 2007 service manual. From that it's pretty easy to figure out why some people use it to shut off the engine...isn't it?

Default Kill switch

Because I love to mess with my buddies, I hit their kill switch every once in a while, just so it cranks a minute and then they figure out the kill switch is off. Has been done to me too, but kinda funny.
