Has anybody had their tour pak hinges and latches powder coated? If so do they operate properly and lock properly and does the finish crack or chip. Please post pictures if you have any.
Thanks

I was getting ready to ask the exact same question. It happens to be the only chrome left on my bike but not a major issue since I have a removable TP and normally ride without it. I would think at the very least, they could be painted. If we don't see an answer by next week, I'll ask my powdercoater when I pick up my wheels.
How funny because I am looking for the same thing on ebay. I'm thinking of purchasing hatches from ebay and having them powder coated. If it doesn't work, then only lost a little $$$. Maybe just painting them gloss black.
You can do anything you want. Question is will it last?
One thing for sure, you'd have to take them apart to sand plast and PC them.
Being of some sort of pot metal - not so sure they'd be too favorable to being re-assembled.
Painting would probably be a better alternative without disassembly - but how good it will adhere is what you'll have to determine.
Did anybody ever do this? I'm going to order the chopped tour pak, and have BBP latches on my 12 FLHX bags. I want consistency/a perfect match! Yes, before you ask or comment -- I am "off the charts" ****-retentive...
Don't waste your money powder coating the cheap stock hinges. I would suggest considering the HD deluxe hinges, then maybe powder coat them. Then you have some quality billet material with a nice powdercoat holding your tour pac lid.
They come in chrome:
They come in black:
It's always been amazing to me that HD keeps installing the cheap **** hinges on CVO models.
FYI on the hinges and latches. I bought HD's black hinges and latches. The latches use rivets to hold the plate on the lid in place. It requires a special rivet tool. I was not able to find one to rent, checked the 'net and the tool is $400. Paid HD dealer $85 to put on the latches. The hinges are no problem other than needing an extra set of hands to hold the lid in place while working on setting them in place.
