Maybe I'm not understanding correctly but if I use a stock 2010 header pipe that has had the cat gutted I could have problems with the o2 sensors even if they are put back the way they came out with a head pipe w/cat?
I have been thinking the same exact thing. In a sense if u put a set of thunderheader slip ons on, then I would think u would get the same performance of their two Into one with falsee. With only a third of the price involved.
Sooie, you are not the only one thinking this way. I had considered taking the left side muffler and crossover pipe off and capping the header where the crossover pipe connected. I asked Jamie at Fuelmoto about the possibility of doing this. He said the problem you would run into is not enough exhaust would be routed from the rear cylinder and it would overheat. I bought a 2into1 header with the cat gutted off Ebay and added a PowerTube muffler from FuelMoto. Sounds and runs great! Don't know about the 02 sensors cross talking with the cat out. Can't find any substantial info on it??? As for cost, I have 300.00 in my 2into1 system.
the rear cyl. over heating ? well that makes zero cents to me
there going in the same place just coming out one hole not two !
no i dont have a flow bench but how can that make the rear cyl run hot ?
would flow just like any 2 into 1 pipe from what i'm thinking
now cross talking i dunno
I hear what you are saying! I thought the same, but I figured Jamie has done a lot of testing with Dyno results and knew what he was talking about, Plus I weighed the cost difference. You will have to at least buy a 2into1 Muffler designed for single exhaust. It won't work with the 2into2 header because it's longer. The bottom stock chrome heat shield that cover's the cat area won't work either. I didn't want to destroy my stock header and maybe have to go back one day when the states start cracking down.
If you want to go 2into1 and don't want a lot of hassle and expense, put a V&H Pro Pipe on. Just Saying!
OH MY GOD (OMG) Isn't removing the cat against the law? You all could be fined or go to jail! Not to mention ozone layer depletion! Global warming! The horrors! I might have to call Al Gore! Just kidding! Can you tell I'm bored at work?
Ronp42- Do you have a ecm tuner in your setup or are you running without one and not seeing any problems?
You can see in my Sig I am running a full stage1 and using xied's for enriching the closed loop. another reason for staying with a stock header. I didn't want to exceed the limit's of the xied's. My bike is running and performing great! I don't plan to go any farther in the engine, like cam's. I found the torque I was looking for with this setup.
thanks for your input Ronp42
i would really just like it to run a little cooler it's got enough power for me
getting tickets are easy
You are welcome sooie. I know it get's confusing with all the info about this subject. I think it depends on the type of riding and where you ride. And how far you want to build your engine. I don't do parades and not a lot of round town in the hot summer time. I like the wide open country and Mtn's away from Interstates if possible. My main goal was to let it breathe and sound like a Harley. Plus run cooler! I listened to good info on this Forum, plus did a lot of research on my own. I'm not trying to get anybody to buy anything I've bought. I'm just saying my setup works great for me.
Having said that, If I had it to go over from the very start, I would probably get the entire Package from Jamie and Keith at FuelMoto. Those guy's can't be beat in quality product's and service. IMO
