what you can do sometimes is this,
1. lossen the cable all the way
2. back off the locking nut on the adjustment screw in the primary
3. back of the adjustment screw
4. now run the adjustment screw in like normal until you feel resistance but go a little more, run it down a bit to make sure that shaft is seated well
5 back off the adjustment screw again
6 now run it in until you feel resistance
7 back it off 3/4 of a turn
8 tighten the locking nut
9 adjust cable
10 ride off
I had that problem once. If you don't collapse the cable adjuster all the way together, you will not have enough slack after the clutch plate adjustment. Mine was hard to collapse the first time and I thought it would be enough, but you need it all the way together even if it's hard to do.
Thanks guys for your input. I did not have the the cable adj. fully collapsed. May be this is the problem. I will try both of your suggestions. Thanks again.
