Riding in to Mother Road HD in Kingman, AZ tomorrow morning and they are going to install a set of the Reach bars on my '09 Ultra. I'll let you all know how they feel, I'll have about a 2 hr ride back to Vegas.
I get my Khromewerks +2 Sweepers back from the powdercoater's tomorrow. I drilled the bars for internal wiring before they went out and I'll get started on the wiring this weekend.
Let us know how you make out with the reduced reach bars and what the whole thing runs at the dealer.
I just finished installing the reach bars on my SG and removed the +2 sweepers I installed last month. I just couldn't get used to them. Will let them go for $45 plus shipping/like new...
Had the dealer order a set of reach bars and heritage bars. Both the parts guy and I looked at the reach bars and for lack of a better term, they looked gay. (not trying to offend anyone). But the curves on those bars don't look right on a bike. Took the heritage bars and have loved them ever since.
They looked gay....lol. My son says that line all the time....lol.
Bars are tricky. You really gotta find your same bike and feel them out before throwing anything from a book on. That's risky......
I have a friend who's real large . Has an ultra. He's large but short. The dealer put a set of bars that pulled back about 2 inches at his request. Now he looks like a little kid on a trike with training wheels. The bars are so far back his hands can't handle the bike in a slow speed turn. He looks nuts! And he hates them
If the reach bars are the HD 2" pullback bars, they are awful. Like riding a wheelbarrow. Some like it, most don't.
Before they mount them, grab them in your hands and make sure you like the wrist angle.
Take the time to look at the Kromewerks +2 sweepers or Wild1 WO575's before plucking down the cash on the pullback bars.
Might save yourself some time and money. Just sayin.
The dealer quoted me $525 total, which is about half what the las vegas dealers wanted. I got a couple quotes from independants as well, they were about the same. I have worried about the wrist angle a bit but from all the threads I've read on multiple hd forums its a real mixed reaction, no one can seem to agree on the "right" feel for bars of any brand. As suggested, I will grab hold of them before I let them start. I can't remember where, but someone had posted a picture from the top of three sets of bars stacked up, I think they were a set of wo575, stock, and the hd pull back bars. The wrist angle didn't look to out there for me and a lot of riders have stated that they felt odd to begin with but that after a few miles they were fine. I dunno what to say other than these stockers gotta go, the az dealer has everything in stock, its in my price range. I'll report back later this weekend. Wish me luck!

Mother Road HD? You will only be about 10 miles from us. I am going into the office tomorrow AM for a few hours, I might get out for a short hop and stop by there on the way back. Planning a longer day Sunday.
I am surprised Henderson did not deal. Never tried them for any service (actually never take the bike in any dealer) but Henderson always has some good sales on merchandise so I assumed they would be competitive in service.
Good Luck! Hope you like them.

Might have been me
The Pullback bars are on the bottom. They're pretty narrow.
