Do only the 2010 and newer bikes have the cat in the head pipe? I have an 09 Ultra.

Thanks

He didn't have much to say after that except the lifter noise was normal.

Moral of the story......Some dealers will claim it voids your warranty!
And they would probably win with the right lawyers. Do you really want to risk it? You may think a noisy lifter isn't related to your PC-V or whatever, but with the wrong cal or if/when it malfunctions it's certainly possible.

If you want to be 100% safe, don't mod the bike, or do it with the Harley-approved parts and the ECU downloads.

This isn't a popular opinion because most people don't want to hear it, but it's the truth.

Generally true. If I'm not mistaken, some of the 09 models slated for California also had cat converters. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong here.

The following FLH models have a catalyst in the head pipe:
2009 CVO Models
2009 California and HDI export models (this does not include 09 Canadian models)
2010-2011 All Models

I think most understand this. It's been discussed many times just in the time I've been hanging around this forum. Obviously, the vast, vast majority of us do risk it. It's true that "if" the dealer and/or the MOCO decide to be a horses behind on a warranty issue on a significantly modded bike, there's pretty much nothing the owner can do about it. Yet, we still mod the he** out of our bikes and through it all, there's what Jamie said below!

So I'm not going to loose any sleep over it. Besides, like I said earlier, my bike's out of warranty at the end of February anyway!

Ride Safe,
Steve R.

Interpid, very good points, and as much it is discussed when is the last time someone posted that they actually were denied warranty first hand from installing these components?

Well, let's see, ummmm, "never," that I've ever heard of anyway and from that I gather Jamie, the same's true for you too!

If anyone knows of an exception, please speak up!
