engine oil every 5k, tranny and primary every 10k (even though tranny is supposed to be more, i do it cause it's easy to remember)
Service manual states Oil every 5k, Primary every 10k and tranny every 20k. Although I change the primary and tranny every other oil change, using a good synthetic in all 3

Spend some time off forum and spend the time reading your owner's manual. The info there is more reliable then some (Not all, guys/girls. ) that you may get here.
So True!!! Wonder how much bad advice I've given? LOL.
I've done a UOA through Blackstone Labs the last 4 changes on my Limited. With 5,000 mile intervals (as the manual states), the oil is still testing very well. If you're changing your oil every 2500-3000 miles you're throwing away perfectly good oil.

I do the transmission every 10,000 rather than 20,000 because I just can't stand to leave any fluid in place for that many miles. The primary gets changed every 5,000 due to the fact that I've already fried a clutch and a compensator.
If you're changing your oil every 2,500 miles, your oil's more expensive (not to mention I'd rather spend my time riding than changing the oil). The analysis is $25, and it gives me a window into my engine. If something's not wearing right (say, a bearing), it'll show in the analysis.
What's costs more------replacing a bearing? Or a crank?

when i got my bike new in 08 i changed oils from all three holes at 500 miles and there was quite a bit of whiskers on the magnetic plugs. then i did it at 1,000 miles and a lot less whiskers of steel on the magnetic drain plugs, then i went to my 5,000 mile intervals. with the current synthetic oils, this seems to work out just right.
Ever notice manufactures may say change oil every 5 thousand miles and oil manufactures say every 3 thousand? It's easy to see who's going to benefit the most.
