Garmin has several models that can handle downloads from your pc with planned trips.
And Macs - just in case some think "PC" means windows only.

Great, Will the programable units come with the software to download those planned trips? Sorry,...Technology is moving much to fast for me. Thanks, Suey
Garmin has a section on their website for you to download all kinds of goodies to help you plan routes and places to stop along the way and check out.
I have a Garmin nuvi model 750.
I bought it at SAM's for about $150 back a few years ago. Works great on the bike but isn't water proof. I just use a baggie and rubber band. Compared to the $700 they want for a ZUMO it's a bargin.
You can download routes from the Harley Route Planner website or create your own and save them. Has other features like the 'Where AM I'.
I just got a new one this year but can't remember the model number but has all these features plus Blue Tooth. Good if you have a Blue Tooth helmet ( which I don't ).
Used it on a 2,500 mile trip last May where it rained 1/2 the time. The baggie keep it dry.
I bought a hardwire USB cable and wired it into the back of the cigarette lighter on the fairing for power.
StreetPilot 2720 for me. It is older and bigger then the Zumos. Also no internal battery or MP3. However it does have the ability to upload routes from the computer that you create. You can also import the "breadcrumb trail" that it generates and create a route from that and upload it to the GPS. For instance if you are just out and about and find a really nice scenic twisty road, you can take the "breadcrumb trail" and trace a route out of it. Then if you are back in that same area again just load that route and it will point you right to it. Hopefully with the purchase of the new RK last September I will have many more miles under my belt then I logged on the Vulcan.
