My Dad rode until he was 80. And not just to the store. For those familiar w/Nor-Cal, he rode Hwy 17 (San Jose to Santa Cruz) sometimes almost daily.
The way he tells the story, he had "wound it up" in the stretch btwn Scotts Vally exit & Mt Hermon Rd ( he went 100 mph *aprox*) almost every time, (Crazy ol man!!) but that time he got scared. He said he had never been scared in his life going fast. He stopped riding a few months after that.
He rode (on & off) from the time he was 14. He rode a Honda CBF 900 the last few yrs he rode. It was FAST and comfortable for him. He and I traded. He gave me his 1974 FXE for it.
His father was a motorcycle cop (CHP) One of the 1st. If you ever see the pictures of the opening day parade of the Golden Gate Bridge in 1937, he was at the front of the motorcade on a CHP Harley (He's the one with the American Flag - NO BS)

I hope to ride that long too !!!!!
So yeah !!! Keep throwin the leg over !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The post above was meant for you, but as you can see - I'm new to actually replying to posts even though I've been a member for a few years. It's January and I'm ancy as hell in the Motor City. Bored out of my mind and doing nothing but thinking about my bike when I'm not working.

Like they say ... "You are only as old as you feel." If you can still manage the bike and maintain safe awareness of what is going on around you, ride on. My dad will be 74 in April and he still rides. He rode with me on a 400 mile day a couple years ago, and was no worse for wear. I know a guy that is 83 and still rides over 20K miles a year.

Very familiar with 17. Not the safest road to ride a bike on. People drive crazy on it even in bad weather.

I am 67 and still riding. If you feel you can ride safely and handle the bike there should be no questions. I met another biker at HD dealership who was 78 on his way to Texas from California. Who knows what age is too old.

Tell them to all pound sand,a lot of my friends are inspirations to me.Make me feel like a kid, several in their 70's still very busy, one owns and rides a 1000hp Boss Hoss. One is 86 and still a very busy farmer, great uncle was in his early 90's and could kick my butt playing pool.I'm a kid at 62 and still crave hot rods my newest toy is a 550hp 2 wheel hot rod.see what I am saying?
