Default Muffler removal help please

2006 Ultra
In the Fix My Hog video it says to remove the heat shields first, then remove the mufflers. After looking at my cycle it seems to me that I can remove the Torca clamps, or at least loosen them sufficiently to wiggle the muffler off WITHOUT removing the heat shields. Am I missing something here?

I have the V&H Ovals although I doubt this makes any difference. I am doing this to remove my rear tire and since I do not have the HD 90-degree wrench, the muffler removal is necessary.

Any advice on just loosening the Torca clamps?

Thank you.

No need to remove the heat shields, just the clamps and the 2 bolts under the saddlebags.

Thanks. I did find a few other posts saying the same thing. I'll use some penetrating oil first.

If you take the rear hanger loose you might get the muffler to drop far enough to get the nut off and pull the axle, I did.

Use neverseeze on the joint when you put it back together, for the next time it will come off with ease.
