I wear Whites www.whitesboots.com - old school, made in usa, very supportive/somfortable, last forever (and can be rebuilt). They'll build you a custom pair if you're like me and have trouble finding boots in your size. I've also heard good things about a similar company called Wesco.
Both these brands are expensive, but much higher quality than others I've worn.
I have a few pair lying around but if I had to give them all up but one, I'd save the HD 'Felix' boots. Lace/zip, great water/weatherproof, but not too hot on warm days. Great sole -- Surprisingly quiet on the living room floor (unlike most of my other shoes / boots), great traction --
Admittedly, loaded with Merrill insoles (I put them in everything).
I wear these boots for work and riding, for my feet they are perfect and super comfortable to wear all day working, and riding........unless you do alot of walking around, they are a heavy boot. my feet NEVER get wet in these boots, unless it goes in over the top of the boot because im stepping someplace deeper than i thought i was was while working. I've tried all those other loggers, for my work and comfort of standing in them all day ...........these are my only choice in boots
I picked Redwings, comfortable and durable which is what I was looking for. Agree with the other posters about resoling, had that done with boots before and doubled the life. However, try on as many as you can and don't limit yourself to "motorcycle boots". Thats just a way to get us to pay more fore something. Most boots will work for riding so get ones that work for you.
Does anyone know of a boot that is soft and easy to move your foot in ? I am a Diabetic and need a soft boot, I have seen Wolverines and they are soft and VERY easy to move and most likely to shift with . Most of the Boots and HD included are CLUMBERS , Thick soul hard to BEND and shift LOL!! You have to be kidding ? Thanks
Visit an orthotic/prosthetic facility or your CPed. Dr. Comfort and P.W. Minor make diabetic boots. I have the Dr. Comfort and I like them except the tongue extends almost to the ball of the foot for easy entry. The next pair will most likely be the PW Minor Patriot.
If ya really liked the fit/feeling of your old boots, look around for a shoe shop and have him put ya on a set of rubber soles. Lot cheaper than a new set of boots if the uppers are still in good shape.
I wear Justins (original workboots) because they are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn, but the soles aren't very grippy - next pair I need to get something wirth more grip. These will probably never wear out so I'll have to get them resoled I guess..
