Buy one off eBay. Unless you're worried about someone else's funk. I bought a HD leather jacket for $100, worn twice (and it looked new). I also bought a Hein Gericke (FirstGear) for $60 shipped. It was in excellent shape, save for a seam in the liner. Seamstress fixed that for $5. eBay Motors, Parts and Accessories, Motorcycle Apparel, Jackets and Leathers (I believe was the eBay section). Good luck. Alan

I get your frustration over trying to get a jacket to fit, but that's not the same thing as being poor quality. I could try on a pair of Chippewa boots in the wrong size and a pair of 50 dollar cheapies that fit, but that doesn't make the cheapies better quality.

I have the FXRG. It and my backrest are the two best investments I made for my biking. I expect it to last as long as I ride.

Don't skimp on your leathers. Get something Quality. I tend to overheat easily so mine has zip off sleeves and vents. Physically pick up the coat. A heavier coat is a good sign that the leather is thick. And pockets. Lots of pockets. Inside, outside, and hidden.

happy hunting.

Teiz make uniquely styled jackets that are high quality and a steal at the price. Good quality armor and lots of venting. They are selling off their remaining inventory cheap. See advrider.com for reviews. Also reviews on webbikeworld.com

Default Wilsons

+1 on Wilson's. Buddy's wife has one and we bought my wife the same type. Very well made, has great zippers and pockets. Also has some reflective pipeing that isn't silly looking in the daylight. She loves it and the guy there at the store says he has a pretty posative feedback from the guy costumors too. Good luck with decision

Cameraboy,

don't feel bad about the jacket bought from Britain. We welcome the business. And, to compensate, I have 3 leathers (2 and one due) bought from and made in the US. The fact that the jacket is US made is important to me too - with proper research on the maker I take it as an added sign of quality. I am a huge fan of Fox Creek, great work and great service.

I have an Xpert jacket. They are not as well known as Foxcreek or Langlitz, but they are the same quality.

I do agree that the two things to look for in a better jacket is 1.2mm leather or thicker and lots of vents because leather does get hot. Most Xpert and Foxcreek are 1.3 to 1.4mm.

Someone earlier in the thread posted a link to TRD leather in Cleveland. (thanks)

I looked a their website, and there's a couple of jackets and vests that look pretty interesting. For 350 bucks, a traditional biker jacket in 2mm naked leather is a great deal. I'm thinking about saving a couple of bucks and ordering one to check it out. Fox Creek gets about 475 bucks for a similar jacket (in my size) and with thinner leather (1.4-1.6 mm).

http://trdleather.com/mens_jackets/basic_motocycle.htm

They've also got a single rider jacket, also in the 5 oz leather for the same price. If the jackets are good quality, it's a great deal.

Vanson (which I love, I've got 4) uses very heavy leather in their jackets, but they're typically 600 to 800 bucks, depending on style.
