Default Gearheads:Question about EFI Tuners

Still thinking of making the switch to either dual dressers with mufflers or Big Shot Duals, do I need to factor in the cost of an EFI tuner?

If your bike is an 02, I think it has the MM fuel injection. Not much in the way of adjusting.

02 was the first year of Delphi injection. If your bike is completely stock then adding slipon mufflers does not require tuning. If you add both air cleaner and mufflers then it does require tuning .. not sure about just headers and pipes. On my 01 with Magneti Marelli FI, I left headers alone added Screaming Eagle II mufflers, Power Commander 3 (from FuelMoto) and Arlen Ness Big Sucker air cleaner. It was easy to install and FuelMoto's map was good to go. Good luck!

Mine with a Big Sucker and Dresser Duels ran way too lean. Fuel Moto's setup dialed it in BIG TIME!! Highly recommended!!

Changing your exhaust should not effect your tune,If and when you install a new air cleaner you will need to tune. A Power Commander or SERT will help you if you have more mods in mind.

Race Face, would you have gone with an EFI if you didn't change you air cleaner?

Heathen, so new exhust and headers will not effect my gas/air mixture whatsoever?

Yes it would be a good idea to get some type of tuner. If you just plan on doing pipes and air cleaner I would pick up a V &H fuel pack or TFI, if you plan on doing more in the future, think about a more powerful tuner. Regardless adding any of these EFI systems will make your bike smoother, more powerful and most likely help it run cooler.
