I'm sorry but I haven't had enough seat time since installing the J&M antenna to be unbiased about it's performance. I will say that where I live there is a hill between me and the nearest city. This slightly reduces radio reception to some weaker radio station signals coming from the city. When I installed the antenna I chose a signal that was on the edge of reception for a before and after test. With the J&M antenna installed I could still receive the weak signal - it didn't appear to degrade.

I was satisfied with this very simple test. To be honest I don't even want to hear a radio when I ride but if its there anyway, it might as well work.

FYI, I was intending on removing the antennas from the back of the bike anyway but while I was inside the fairing I noticed the end of the radio antenna cable was actually broken and barely hanging on (literally by a thread/thin wire). The person installing the cables at the factory was a little over zealous when he shoved the cable into the socket. I had to pick the broken pieces out of the socket with needle nose pliers and a hook. This made the decision to go with the J&M antenna a no brainer. If I was to do it again I would go with other suggestions on the forum to mount the stock AM/FM antenna horizontally under the fairing. Its a far cheaper solution if it works.

I installed HD shortys and noticed loss of reception in my CB and FM radio. I'm going back to the stock whips.

I'm in the garage and just checked the ones on my 2010 UC. The CB is on the right (sitting on the bike) and the AM/M is on the left.

You are correct.I looked in the SM earlier and the pic showed the CB on the right hand side.

I think the antennas are the same and mine are not marked.

Take your tour pak liner out and check what kind of cable and connector is on the inside.
