How many of you with the late model bikes, the ones that require 38 ozs. of primary fluid, just dump in a quart and call it a day, and how many make sure they put in the full 38 ozs. Does it really make a difference.
Thanks in advance Jonnierock
Over filling will cause the clutch to drag and create more drag (parasitic load) on the primary chain I roughly use the markings on the bottles and call that a day or measure 2-3/4" from center of adjustment bolt to fluid level.
Yep, that's the correct way. It's the way I do it anyway....
Why would you add 45oz if you had the primary cover off??
If it comes to the bottom edge of the basket, it's full.
Do you think 7oz stays in the primary area when you drain the old stuff? A little may but I don't think 7oz does. Just my 2 cents on the matter.....
You'd be surprised how much stays. 7 oz isn't much. There are a whole bunch of clutch plates in there and every one of them coated with oil.
If the cover was off and the plates were pulled out or replaced, or had a long time to drip dry, it will take near that 45 oz to reach your visual checkpoint.
My visual check point is the clutch spring. I like to see the bottom edge of it barely submerged.
