Hard clutch pull
Here's how it works-- (PS - I do not know your mechanical or engineering abilities, so forgive me if I offend - it is not my intention..)
I have included 2 links below - on an image of the Mueller PC, the other a PDF from Harley which shows the internals of the clutch ramp and ball kit. Hopefully these will help with the imagery I'm going to attempt to provide.
As a side benefit, you can use the instructions to do the swap on your own bike.. <grin> I know it says for SE bikes, but regular bikes are the same.
Now then --
The OEM ramp and ball kit is made of two circular discs, each with 3 grooves and both discs sitting against each other so that the grooves create small pockets. The inner is stationary, the outer is attached to your clutch cable and moves rotationally each time you squeeze and release the clutch handle. Captured within each of these pocket/grooves is a steel ball. As the outer disc rotates, the groove/pocket gets tighter (smaller) and forces the ***** against the inner disc, which in turn pushes against the clutch plate shaft, which releases the clutches on the other side of the primary on the left side of the bike.
The grooves/pockets are a certain point away from the center line of the clutch shaft, and the outside diameter of the discs is a given dimension with the clutch cable hook on the outside edge of the outer disc.
If you look closely (not that closely - its readily apparent) You will see that the Mueller part uses the magic of Archimedes and his lever to bring the ***** and grooves closer to the center, decreasing the force required to make the same movement as before.
The result is a clutch that is VERY easy to pull, bulletproof performance, no visual difference from OEM, and happy hands.
FWIW, It is easy enough that I can pull the clutch with my ring finger on my left hand - Which is good, because my first two fingers can't reach the lever.
I hope this helps !!
