Default 30t sprocket and primary chain?

For those who have done this conversion did you loose your cruise?? I guess some years do and some don't...mines an 11 flhx. Not to worried about the 6th gear light, or speedo being off...gotta have cruise though.

i think .... 07 was ok 08 lost it,but if u dig back far enough there are some older threads that have that info, even 07 a some did some didn't.u can also lower gearing and retain ids using rear 68 tooth rear sprocket, cheeper and less labor.

if u tune with a tts i think u can adjust for the gearing and get cruise and 6th light back and recall the speedo.

you already have a 68t wheel pulley.

Your initial post referred to a 30t sprocket and primary chain, I presume you were talking about the engine sprocket and compensator. The 30t motor sprocket conversions does away with the compensator, which some guys say isn't a problem, but I feel puts too much shock loading onto the crankshaft.

Your most viable options are to change the clutch sprocket out for a 49t unit from evo industries (3.06 final drive), or change the trans pulley out to a 31t pulley (2.96 final drive, approx 3% more torque), or a 30t trans pulley (3.07 final drive, approx 7% more torque than stock).

The clutch basket and sprocket conversion is the easiest to do, but the parts aren't cheap. If you can do the work yourself, the 30t trans pulley conversion, using a tri glide pulley, can be done for around 100 bucks, including new primary gaskets and fluids.

Thanks, I am just trying to figure the best way to do this gear change. Everyone has different opinions...I just want to do it right the first time. Leaning twards the 30t pulley and belt...
