Thumbs up baffle packing

Okay so it got up to the mid 40s here today and I couldn't stand it any longer.
Broke out the RK and did some experimenting with the two baffles.
I took the packing off the dyno tuned baffles and it sounds great. No decel popping good power. Closer to what sound I am after. Idle sound is extremely good.
Now the Competition baffles....
I took the silent sport packing out and used the dyno tuned baffle wrap on the comp bafffles. Wow! huge improvement in sound. Even closer to what I want. Some decel pop not major though annoying.
Next I took the packing off the comp baffles and just ran them straight.
Perfect sound I want. Especailly when excelerating. Only problem is pops like crazy when deceling and shifting.
I am glad I did this before buying true duals or the Big Shots. I just need to talk to Jamie about remapping with comp baffles and no packing material to eliminate the popping if possible.
I cannot believe the difference in sound when the dyno tuned wrapping was put on the comp baffles. Huge improvement. It is very difficult to put the silent sport packing in without taping it or wrapping it somehow. I was about to give up on this set up. Glad I didn't. I would suggest that Fuel Moto use the same wrap on the comp baffles as the dyno tuned baffles to my ears it is a improvement.

That is exactly what I did. I love the sound of the naked competition baffles, very aggressive. With the exception of a single pop at start up, I'm not getting any popping or backfiring when riding.

How long does baffle packing material last? Seems like it will wear out on its own over time.

The packing that came on the dyno tuned baffles I don't ever see that wearing out.
The silent sport may not wear either. I don,t know.
NoLoCo have a question for you.
What model HD are you running? I have an 08 RK with Fuel Moto stage 1 kit. PCV,A/C and their mufflers. Have not put on a dyno. Went with map they sent. With Comp baffles I don't have any popping on start up or on the throttle, just on decel.

I usually post from my phone (no sig pic) but you forced me to fire up the old computer so you can see it. I've got a 10 RGC, SE ventilator intake, Jackpot headers and mufflers w/ comp baffles (no packing) and SEPST. Dealership dyno'd the bike as is. I'm not a fan of canned maps, I think it's better to have a bike/setup specific tune.

You can most likely fix the decel popping on your own. Usually, the solution is to add a bit of fuel into the zero throttle column of both fuel table. Mine ended up needing a +15 adjustment as indicated.

This is PDF sent to me from Chris at Dynojet.

A few months back I bought the competition baffles and installed them with about half the packing material that came with the baffles. I had to tape the Silent Sport packing to the baffles in order to fit inside the muffler. I like the sound much better, but I too get popping on decel and occasionally at start up. My bike is a 2007 FLHRS and I have a SE/AF and FuelMoto/Dynojet PCIII USB. Does anyone know if I can make adjustments to the fuel tables like you can with a PCV?

thanks for sharing Nocoloco. Sorry bout that spelling. Clint 55 thanks for the info. When it gets warmer hmmm 60's I will plug up and try some adjustments. I am burnt out on cold. I haven't really had a chance to do much since it was late November when I put the package on. Maybe have 150 miles on it since installed.

bbflhrs I'm not sure about the pc3 vs the pcv. Someone in these forums surely does. Maybe dynojets website might help. I had a pc3 on my fat boy but it was already set up when I bought it. As far as the silent sport packing goes the instructions I got were from the manufacturer didn't really relate to the type of baffles we use in my opinion. I read in a post that Kieth at fuel moto explained how to put this stuff in and it was exactly as you stated. Wrapping it around and then taping it all the way down the baffle. If this had been explained to me when I bought it? It would have been a simple install. The instructions that came with this stuff didn't say anything like that. So needless to say it was a pain and a turn off to this stuff. I may try to put it on again, but after the tape burns off the stuff will expand and I believe bunch up at the end of the baffle. I may be wrong. All the Jap street/strip bikes I had the baffles that came with the headers never had packing. But carbs were much easier to tune and timing was as well.
Damn I don't know where all that came from. Sorry for rambling.
