Default Road King Classic Saddle Bag Lock

I have an 09 Road King Classic and have been looking for a locking system for the bags. I know HD has one and Inertia has one that is a little pricey. Don't mind spending the money if the product is worth it. Does anyone have an opinion on either one?

I am interested in some good locks as well to make it a little harder for opportunistic thieves.

To secure your bags to the bike, check out: http://brukus.com/cgi-bin/p/awtp-hom...torcycle-parts

Sorry, I don't have experience with locking the bag closed. I did, however, buy the fitted Harley bagliners and they work great when I'm traveling!

If I can presume that you have the standard leather bags on your road king perhaps these are what you are looking for HD part #90300017 They do not lock the bags to the bike like the $200 ones do but they lock the lids Just bought a set for my 09 classic. Bought the 60.00 ones keyed to my ignition key. I have not installed them yet as I am a little tight on space in my shop and it is like 6 degrees out but I don't see a problem. They may not be the ultimate but they will srop the grab and ****** guys and if you can't open the lid you can't steal the whole bag. At least not easily Unfortunately they don't make a cheap one for the leather tour pak.

I looked at the link. Looks like these are meant to go inside like bike and are secured with a torx screw. Even if it is a security torx those bits can be purchased at any hardwarder store. What is in the bag can still be stolen. I too bought a set of bag liners and one for the tour pak. Haven't used them yet but they are well made and handy to remove from the bags. They weren't HD but they cost a few bucks less, have a lifetime warranty and were made in USA. I think it was like 88.00 shipped for all three liners Here is a link to their site

There is this style, looks clean, $180:

http://www.lockitt.com/accessories_saddlebaglocks.htm

And this style, combination locks for the latches, requires riveting the strap to one specific adjustment (and easily defeatable, just have to cut the straps with a scissors...), $60

http://www.saddlebaglidlocks.com/

The cheaper Harley kit, $50, requires cutting holes in the bags, doesn't look very clean:

...and the other Harley kit, $240, much cleaner, way expensive:

Honestly they're all just deterrents, it's pretty easy to lift the rear corner of the saddlebag and yank stuff out, regardless of if it's latched or not. All I really care about is my laptop when it's in the bag, I'm just going to buy a cable lock and run it through the laptop handle and one of the frame members or swingarm or something.

The above kit is the one I purchased. For an extra 10.00 you get it keyed to "your" bike. You get two more keys that fit your ignition and fork lock You drill holes thru the lid and the bag, not "cut" them The location in the pic is not the only place you could put them. Download the pdf and you can see. It shows a different style bag but my local parts dept checked with the factory and one of their own techs who has installed them and they will fit the bags on our bikes with the molded abs liners. yeah you could put it thru the "strap" which would do no good If you look at the second picture it looks like a pretty neat clean install. Forstner bit for the large hole and a small one for the screws. Yeah they "just make it a little harder" and won't stop a determined thief who comes prepared, but ask a cop sometime what a lock is good for and he will probably tell you it is to keep "an honest person honest" If they want it that bad they'll steal the whole damn bike. Just sayin

I'd like to see where you end up mounting them on the bags, I might have to go that route for mine. Agreed, it's better than nothing for sure. They should make a version that's black powdercoated so it's less obvious they're on the bike.
