Did about 250 miles today touring lower NY State. Trees looked awesome turning orange and the weather was perfect. Stopped off at O.C.C. and checked out the bikes in the showroom. The Lance Armstrong bike is incredible, just the motor. Between the Diamond cut heads and the alternating yellow and black fins, looked real sharp. They have about 20 bikes on display which they seem to rotate. Bought a raffle ticket for one of their old school bobbers. Don't bother trying to buy one, I'm sure I have the winning ticket. I've read alot of stuff knocking OCC. I know they are not "true bike builders", but they do have a great imagination when it comes to design. The NY Yankees bike is a perfect example of that.

Sound like a good "Road Trip"
Let's see;;;touring. I guess I had my first "touring" ventures in 1957;;;we used to ride an old Harley around the local airport, someone had to hold it up and get er' goin' for us kids because at 13, no one in our "gang" could reach any pedals, just ride in low gear, and damn sure feelin' on top-of-the-world. The "tourin'" thing comes in when I'd often get to the end of the sod runway area, hit the farm-to-market road, and,,,not bein' able to turn around, just ride till she was outta gas, flooded/dead, or killed thru bad throttle technique. The "dismount" had to be pretty quick, didn't want to wind up under that baby when she fell over! Eventually, one of two things would happen. A farmer would loan me some gas and help me get it pointed toward the airport again, or I could hitch a ride to the closest spot for help, after the cager helped me set er' back up on the kickstand. You know, in all those times, not once did anyone ever touch that bike, sitting on the side of a rural road. From then on, I pretty much owned touring models of one kind or another, be it pan or shovel. After being away from ridin' for a number of years, and as some of you know, I just recently picked up a really mint 94" EG for a nice price. I've had some stupid "senior moment" questions, but I sincerely appreciate everyone's help and advice. Anyhow, touring;;;;before the EG made it off the shipping truck, I ordered the parts/shop/owners manuals, reviewed em', went down and bought a nice little lift, and was set, waitin' for the new arrival. The plan was to put er' up on the lift, start from one end to the other, check every single thing out (after all, she is about 13 years old!), and I'd never touched an EVO motor. Yeah;;;right. I checked the oil and tires, fired that beauty up, and put 214 miles on er', all rural backroad. What a dream, not one problem, not one. I love the carb model, 5-speed, and every other dang thing about that scooter. Interesting to note,,I sold an 82' dresser, back in 86', because I couldn't "fit" on it quite right. What it needed was highway pegs. This one? well, the seat/frame is positioned differently, and the floorboards are farther forward I think. Heck of a good stroke out of the factory folks;;;and I'm glad I didn't go ahead and order road-pegs, don't really need em'. I "toured" 867 miles that first week, which is pretty good for an ole' guy thats been thru two helo and one airplane wrecks. Didn't hurt at all, and she just keeps gettin' better, it seems. Know what? When I first took off down the road from my farm, it put me back 49 years ago to that old Knuck-dresser, and, I think the smile was about the same, I know the feeling was. I'd say "ride safe" amigos, but hell, that doesn't tell you anything,,,,how bout' "ride smart"! rmack
