ok will post pics later....but I have the old cams out and the new ones in the cam plate. I am going to pull the bearings tomorrow morning. I found that the outside? cam chain tensioner was very worn. the inside wasnt too bad but I am going to replace both to be sure. 24k on them thought they were supposed to last alot longer than that...

also forgot to use the binder clip method for the lifters so looks like I have to go to the office supply store in the morning as well.

OK....

Sorry for no pics but I was more interested in concentrating on the job at hand...Long story short. after I gave myself a heart attack...see I was using a straw, a drinking straw, to see where the piston was. I grabbed the rear tire and spun the motor and glanced over at the rear piston and the straw was GONE....I was like...wtf....then I got dizzy after I realized it went INSIDE THE HEAD.....I was like oh ****....called the dealer....freaked out...called my friends...freaked out some more...then i was looking at the bike in disbelief shaking my head cursing myself for being stupid...and there it was...on the floor, the straw...it was on the inside part of the floor jack so I could not see if but for the angle I was looking at it from the front...now...I am not sure what the moral of the story is...but I will not be using anymore straws...just sayin....

so i got the cams installed after replacing the cam tensioners (both) and having to tap out a starbolt that froze in the cam plate...(talk about pucker factor at 11) I got it all put together and then installed the pushrods. Adjusted them and installed all the pushrod covers and tubes...

wow...could that be it???

I walked around the bike...and then AHA! I forgot to install the sparkplugs. i put them in and then...the moment of truth....

......
......
I hit the starter button.

good news....

it turned over no catastrophic noises...no wierd grinding sounds...

bad news....

it wouldnt start....

I walked around the bike...the spark plug wires were not on...

The only way I can explain the feeling I had is this...I was relieved that I found out what the problem was....but now I had to do it again...try and start it...WTF did I forget this time?

turned on the ignition....set the switch to RUN.....
.....hit the starter button....

VROOOM! it started on the first revolution!!!!

HOLY ****. I did it. It works.

Time for some whisky...

I called Zippers and they told me I didn't have to do anything. Just run the motor and ride it. They did tell me to make sure I applied the offsets after the first real ride and then once a week after just to keep things smooth.

ok finally got to ride it yesterday and today. I could not really get on it to hard due to the road conditions but i can definately feel the difference. I effortlessly am up to 60 mph and have not even shifted into 5th gear yet. I will post more once the road clear and i can put it through its paces.

Are you planning a dyno run at all? They sound like they fit the bill.. I am waiting to pull the trigger on the 254e's very soon. I am very interested on your results!
