I have this same kit in my 2011 Dyna Wide Glide. I love this kit and I had this installed before I even picked the bike up. My kit has the 110+ heads and 260 cams and it screams especially around 3200 to redline. Making over 100 TQ wise in this area. I had mine tuned by Bean at Big Boyz one of the best by far. Only had roughly 800 miles on it when tuned so I'm sure its loosened up a little now. My numbers were 114.9 HP and 113.3 TQ. I am very happy with it. I can't leave well enough alone so at some point during the winter months here in Maine I will have Big Boyz do there magic to the heads and go with .030 head gaskets. I will say on a Dyna its almost scary best 1/4 mile speed according to my dakota digital speedo was 117 so believe me when I say it cranks Good luck and enjoy. Ride safe but Ride like Hell
If Bean dynoed it and on his dyno and you are pulling 114hp then you have a super super stout 103" and I wouldn't pull it apart for any reason. Those dynos read roughly 10-15% lower than a DJ dyno, so that would mean your 103" would dyno out around or over 130hp if it was on a DJ dyno.
You made me curious with your post so I went and double checked my dyno sheets. Yes Beans dyno is very conservative compared to the DJs and he tunes for the best all around tune for drivability not just to get you the high numbers everyone wants. As I checked my paperwork on Beans dyno my numbers were 106.57 HP and 103.78 TQ so you were right I was not present the whole time when Bean did mine which was figured in my sale with the dealership. The other numbers were from The DDealers DJ so I really never checked my paperwork which dyno printout I was given. So since I only live a few miles from Bean I swung in and got the printout for his dyno. Bean is the Man. He did a great job on my WG and also my 96 Road King which I was there for the whole tune. So to clear things up different dynos but same day. Either way I'm happy and like Bean said to me Anything over 100/100 on his dyno its making some serious power. As I got talking to him he told me about a 120R he did. The guy made huge power but the drivability sucked. I think 130s he said. When he was done it was under 120 hp on his but the guy was happy and said it ran way better and was smooth. So no matter what I really don't care about numbers as a whole but I know I trust Bean and his work. Matter of fact gonna do a few dyno runs in two weeks at another dealership on a DJ so I'll see what I get for numbers on theres especially my motor with some miles on it and loosened yp some. I have had experience with the Factory Pro dyno as well and the best power tuning.
I have the hd stage IV 103 kit in my 09 softail. I really like it but I switched out the 260's for a set of woods cams. I ended up getting 104hp and 118tq. with lots at the low end. Just right for the way I ride.
You will need to know what pistons were installed, not the compression ratio, the part #. 10.5 pistons for stock heads won't yield nearly that when 110+ heads are used. There are 10.5 pistons for 110+ heads, thats why you need to know what pistons(part #) were actually installed. What head gaskets were installed? The ones that came with the kit? What was the piston to deck height? What is the actual cranking pressure? You need to know all this. I upped my hp/tq about 15-20 without increasing displacement. I got my ccp up from 175 to 195( a cam change, no higher lift and an earlier intake valve close) and re-tuned. Voila. Most dealer will just slap the parts on from the kit. The kit on your bike should have had the proper pistons but the cams were 260's originally, so who knows what else has been changed. Was it tuned or did the dealer just install a downloaded Stage IV map, which won't be optimum by the way, and check the out put. What pushrods were used? The ones in the kit? Adjustables? Whose and which ones? I had SE non tapered adjustables and they hit the tubes. Were the lower rocker boxes ground for valve spring clearance? Mine weren't and the valve springs rubbed making noise. Sorry for hitting you with all this but you asked, yes you can optimize what you have and gain performance without increasing displacement.
Called the dealer today (Southern Tier Harley Davidson Binghamton NY) that did the Stage IV in my bike. The 259 cams are what came in this kit, it has all stock parts that came in the kit, Piston, head gasket, non adjustable pushrods, etc. I talked to the Service mang. that did the biuld. They have an in house dyno 105hp/104tq. This kit was put in the bike late 2009, at the time the bike had 1932 mi on it, just turned 9000mi. this morning.
