Default Swing arm bushings?

I'm confused, my mechanic says I need new swing arm bearing/bushings on my 06 Ultra. I took it too another guy & when I asked him about the busings, he looked at me like I'm an idiot & said he's never had too replace them nor has he ever heard of em going bad. Has anyone ever expierenced this or know of someone thats had to replace their swing arm bushings? Or am I being duped for some of my hard earned cash? The bike only has 27K miles on it cant imagine the bushings being shot already. Need advice from some bros.

Do yourself a favor and if you replace them, go with the Glide Pro setup or a similar product

What made the first guy say they needed replaced? Are you experiencing problems?

I agree.
So was there a problem with the bike?

anything rubber will sooner or later go bad. The bushings on my 99 RK were toast at 30,000 miles. Cracked and weathered. Front motor mount was ripped and deteriorated because of the constant oil bath it got everytime I changed oil. Id look at them yourself. You will be able to tell if they are bad or not.

Are you saying the swingarm bearing/bushings are rubber?

No they're not, they are steel, but the swingarm is also mounted to the frame with rubber isolators which can go bad. They live behind the passenger footboard mounts, so are out of sight.

I've always planned to replace them whenever the rear belt goes south. 11 years and 84,000 miles and I'm still on the stock bushings with no symptoms.

Ok. I'd forgotten about the rubber isolators.
