First of all, welcome to the forum. If I was you, I would go to the dealer and ride the whole line up, see which one fits you best, then maybe rent it for a day or two before I decided. The demo ride is going to be different than renting one. No matter which one you get, you are going to love it. I went from 2 sportys straight to my limited, I wish I would have done it years ago. Big Red is a blast to ride, comfy as hell, eats miles like they are nothing, the stereo is good and the cruise control rocks. Hit the slab, crank the tunes and you can go for hours and hours. Good luck with your choice, stay safe.. Whatever you get, post pics so we can help you spend your money,lmao...

My wife was uncomfortable on my Softail Deluxe. But she said don't get a paw paw bike. She is now happy on the Road Glide. I added all the paw paw stuff when she wasn't looking. It's all detachable anyhow. I got a solo seat and 4" windscreen when I'm feeling sporty. Did have to add cams and soup it up a bit. Definitely test ride some bikes.

As someone else suggested, Road King without a windshield might be up your alley. I don't think a touring bike is going to be less 'aggressive' than a Softail really.
I've ridden a Fatboy Lo and a Heritage, and I feel like my Road King has more engine '*****' and better handling than those two. You get the A motor and external shocks which are more hellraising IMO than a Softail.

I just got this King about a week ago, and I thought that the touring bikes would be kinda flabby, but they're really not. The RK without the windshield is just like a gigantic Sportster-like a huge bike that Batman would ride around on. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

At 90 mph or higher you'll get a front end shake on a street glide due to the fairing catching wind and being bolted to the forks. This doesn't happen on a road glide because the fairing is bolted to the frame. Other then the fairing the bikes are identical , you will love having a stereo
