I just purchased a 2001 FLHTP and I have some questions that I cannot seem to find any answers to and then some advice as well:
1. What brand/part number of spark plugs and wires are the best
2. Air Cleaner Filter or system and part number
3. Which is the best rear tire?
4. should I change the fork oil at 20K?
5. can I lube the steering bearings myself?
1. I run the stock wires and Autolite 4164's. You could run the HD 6R12 plugs and the SE 10mm fattie wires
2. If you have a stage 1 air cleaner backing plate, grab a K&N filter for it.
3. I would go with Dunlop Elite 3
4. I would change the fork oil
5. You can lube it yourself. There is a zerk that is a biotch and most change out to a 45 or 90 degree zerk instead
before you buy a K&N for the stock air cleaner box, you may want to consider getting a hi flow air cleaner kit which uses a K&N or K&N type washable filter.

The AN Big Sucker is pretty much the same as the HD Stage 1 except it uses an AirAid filter which is a K&N look-a-like. It is also a few pennies cheaper. All you need to do is look for a filter kit for a twin cam. 99-07 used the same stage 1 setups.
