I agree with you on the labor expense. Honestly, if I didn't feel capable in doing most of the work/repairs on my bike, I'd probably have the warranty. HD labor is rediculous. Of my last three bikes, all of them Harley, none of them saw the dealer after it left the showroom floor. Well, then again I did take my current one to have the compensator checked because I knew it was going. They started the bike and said it was fine. Then they tried to charge me 160 EURO for the 2 sparkplugs they put in that I didn't need. Then I decided I'd just do it myself. They had my bike for a week, and now I'm still stuck just doing it myself.
I do my own maintenance but not repairs, unless they cost less than $50 (the ext. warranty deductible) or they're not covered by the ext. warranty (normal wear).
Is the extended warranty that Jim Palmer sells a HD warranty or some other company? If it's an HD policy, I'm curious as to why he can be so much less than what others have paid at HD?

The HD ESP is underwritten by CNA. It's not HD who covers the cost, it's CNA.
As for the price, everything's negotiable, especially when it's part of the deal on a bike (new or used).

+1 on this!! I've called around to other dealers and the prices may very a little but not by much. I've given my Vin to dealers so they can see my bike is still under factory warranty until June but they are all so close in price. I too wonder how others are getting such a huge savings else where on the HD ESP?.
