I just installed the rear docking hardware on my 2006 Street Glide. This is the docking hardware that requires relocation of the antenna. I'm looking at HD anntenna relocation kit #76208-07 -- this is the one that mounts the antenna way down low, on a rear saddle bag support bracket.
My question is, does anyone know if the HD anntenna relocation kit work on a bike that has the double wrap-around saddlebag guard rails installed? (Mine does). HD website doesn't address this issue, since a FLHX doesn't come with the wrap-around rails.
I cannot be sure; however, the other relocation kit will mount the antenna under the fairing - completely hidden from any view - only down fall is loosing some AM reception - but who listens to AM now a days anyway.
I have the 09, with the detachable set-up, a different antenna kit is used, mine mounts between the left saddlebag and the fender. If you can get that- it is much tidier.
- or as mentioned above go under that fairing- an $8 rubber stubby antenna from the auto parts store will do it.
you can just make out the antenna here-
come to think about it, there is no magic, you could make up a mount from hardware store parts
