E3. Metzler will wear out much faster.

Trucker I don't know much about the Metzlers, but have been happy with the Elite 3. I posted before that you have to run 36 psi front and rear. Over inflating made my tires sing, but with 36psi they were fine. Wear is good also, but I like the way they handle in dry and rain. Hope this helps, good luck.

I think the choices are between the Metzler (ME880, for me anyway) and the Dunlop American Elite, the elite 3 is for 2008 and earlier.

I'll be buying a front tire soon and I've decided to go with the Metzler, the Dunlop sounds good but it is new on the market and not proven by millions of miles of use like the Metzler. Maybe next time I'll go with the Dunlop American Elite.

they don't make Dunlop Elite-3 in the sizes you want.... but the do have the new "American Elite" in your size... it's a new tire, and there hasn't been a lot of miles put on those tires (yet)
you CAN go Metzlers.... they will wear faster but great grip.
If these are the OEM tires.... there was a service notice about them.... before you buy new tires, stop by yopur dealer, and see if you can get a free replacement

75 mile commute on country backroads wore out my Metzelers way too early for me. 7500 rear, 14,500 front. E-3 just put on for milage(?) last month. Too early to tell of course, but I thought I was giving up handling. But so far the E 3 is excellent on dry and damp pavement. ( Still waiting for the downpour.)

Metzler ME880 all the way. They wear a little faster but have great grip and they don't "track" like the Dunlops.

i think the stockers on my '09 are great. first time i didn't want to replace the stock rubber on any bike. the 402's on my '02 were awefull, me880's much better. the 407/408 combo i have now work well wet or dry and show minimal wear after 10,000 miles.

I'm running a Dunlop E3, 90B16, on the front and Michelin Commander, MU85B16, on the rear. No problems at all and had both delivered to the door for $156.00 total.
