Default powdercoating flhx tank console
I just got my console back from powdercoat, and it is in bad shape. I have to buy a new one and try again. The Chrome bubbled up and some of it flaked off, looks like a filler was added to it from the factory then it was dipped. Anyone had any luck doing theirs? Or same outcome as I have had?

They didn't sandblast it first before powder coating it? If not you need to find a new powder coater who knows what there doing.

Yes it was blasted first, when it was heated is when It bubbled up and popped.

Had mine done with no problems at all. Sorry to hear of your misfortune... Maybe try someone else???

Yeah I went that route, the new guy did everything else perfectly. I was just curious if this was a common problem or if the first guy just f'd it up.

I use Indy Powder Coating here in Indianapolis, and they are great. They did mine wrinkle black and it turned out awesome. (like everything else they do)

They should heat all parts overnight before blasting them

I bought the extended panel for my roadglide and went to have it powdercoated. It had a bubble that popped and looked like a divet on it. I ended up having the dash painted gloss black with no real issues....
the powdercoater said it was "pot tin" and wouldnt powdercoat....

send it to me bud we can fix what they messed up... the coater does not know what he is doing, that is the bottom line. we will fix it for you
we have coated over 40 of that same dash this year alone
