My bike, a 2000 RKC, is currently running with stock headers, SE A/C, and Vance and Hines Basic Slip-ons. The bike runs great with the tune for this set-up (bought it this way so not sure how tuned).
I just bought a new set of slip-ons - the CFR knockoffs - for those of you that don't know they are open-design straight through (no back-pressure).
I am wondering what you all think will be needed as far as tuning the bike for these pipes (keeping the stock header). I think if I find that I lost low end torque, I will consider addding the lollipop baffle or maybe try the Big City Thunder Baffles in the head pipe to get back some backpressure.
If you think I will need a tune, what are those of you who have MM EFI using?
You should find out if there is a power commander on the bike, with slipons and air cleaner that bike should have been tuned as mine with just slipon and no tune would pop at low throttle.
If you don't have a power commander I'd recommend contacting FuelMoto to get one and tell them what you have and they'll ship the PC with a tune in it.
If you are getting popping through the exhaust it is from cold air getting sucked into the exhaust system. Make sure you torque all the clamps to recommended specs in the "SHOP MANUAL". Don't skimp on this. You will be able to tell if it needs to be tighten more by starting the bike and using your hand (carefully and about 2" or so away) to feel for exhaust leaks.
Running stock head pipe in the front, "Full Sac" true duals on back, SE air breather and V & H fishtails. Runs great. Nothing more.
Opps, 01 EGC. Haven't had it tuned, mpg is great, no loss of low end but a damn noticeable top end improvement.
