07 Ultra Classic engine ping
Just picked up an 07 FLHTCU and this is my first Harley Davidson and first street bike after 20 years of off road riding. I've noticed when I put the wood to my Harley, in sixth gear, the engine pings. At first I thought I got some bad gas but it has remained consistent. Dealership says it is a normal noise but it sounds bad to me and I know engine pinging when I hear it. I read an article about a guy who test rode the same bike to Sturgis and he complained that it sounded like a popcorn maker under load and when the outisde temperature got hot. However, the author suggested no remedy for this. I don't want to burn a hole in a piston. Any one else have this issue and if so what did you do about it.

They are pushing many away.These 07 arent going to sell themselves like previous models.Forget the extended warranty and use that $ to upgrade the exh,fuel side of bike.

Thank your tree lovers and the EPA, Its just not possible to build a great running air cooled big twin and meet the tight restrictions imposed by the goverment, when they beat the life out of our american v twin, and they have a big fat honda looking radiator, you will be happy right? No! then you will wish you could have a real harley and only add 300.00 to have a awesome running bike. If some would spend the 300.00 on a PCIII instead of a chrome capachino holder and a sheepskin seat cover they would enjoy the bike a 100% more.
