ORIGINAL: Branded

Monroe shock # MA785 is for 63 - 82 Corvette.

http://www.car-stuff.com/performance...5&submit=Go%21

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

1 pr. of shocks 75.95
1 air pump 59.00
1 Universal switch 3.95
Total = 138.90

* Air line fitting and plastic Tee come with shocks.
What this info says to me is that should after my 1 year warranty expires I need to replace any component of my DB system it will be easy to find the parts and will be relatively inexpensive to do so.

I'm curious why no one bothers to make these comments about all of the other after arket products out there. Is there really $80 worth of material and labor involved with a So-Low kit, what about a Corbin seat? $700 for some leather, foam, and a fiberglass pan?!?!?

If the DB system isn't your piece of pie then don't buy it, but is it really necessary to try and beat the kit down or more importantly the company that makes it and the people who bought it? If the market allows Tony to sell this for $400 then more power to him.

BDJHOG,
I don't think anyone is trying to beat the kit down, but when DB says the shocks were especially made for his application and you find out that they are Monroe corvette car shocks that have to much travel (bolt hitting muffler) you might want to ask some questions. Just what was especially made for this application? They were painted black? I'm not nocking the system, i just want to know what I'm gettin for my money.

I was going to jump on thje bandwagon too and buy the DB system but I resisted and wanted to find out more about the systems components. I asked several direct questions on this forum regarding the components and future warranty concerns and I received no response. I took my money elsewhere along with an additional $430.00 and I'm getting a system that has been on the market for 6-7 years now and has a "no questions asked" replacment warranty on any component if it should fail.

Also, I found the exact same info the Branded did and I thought to myself, why pay someone almost $400 for something that I can put together for a little over $100.00 for? However, my warranty or peace of mind of the reliabilty of the system would be no greater by doing it on my own. Thus, http://www.americanvtwinmotors.com/ earned my business. And the "no questions asked" statement I was told speaks volumes. When I don't get answers that scares me.

Regards,
An educated consumer

Meanbiker,
What does the two inch stopper do? The Monroe MA785 shocks have 4.5" of travel. If I'm not mistaken the DB website says there is roughly four inches of travel, seems similar to me. Like I said, I'm not knockin the system (ordered mine almost two weeks ago) just want to know what is going to show up.

I think all the talk about the DB system is just that. If the shocks have 4's of travel, and are made to jack a car up and down, chances are they will hold up well under the weight of a bike.As far as the compressor, only time will tell. The most difficult part of a start up business is cash flow. That being said, and having watched the Forum carefully since DB started selling their product. It seems to me that they have answered every question ,and replaced every faulty part in a timely manner and at no charge. All businesses were new at one time . At least these guys are involved in this forum, so why not support them? In addition, all reports that I have heard as far as the ride goes are positive! So if you want to spend $1000-$2300 for a more proven system good for you! If you want to build your own for $138.00 goodluck!! I took a shot for $399.00 on some fellow HD Forum members and in a year we"ll know

I'm with DI75. You make your own for $138.00, and you've got no one to yell at if something effs up. You pay the $1000-$2300, and you've got the wife yelling at you now. So for $400, I've got someone to yell at if it doesn't work and the wife was happy with the price. Tony and Amee have backed their system to date. In the end all will be fine!!!

Like others, I ordered mine two weeks ago and am patiently waiting for the big brown truck to show.
