I just got back from the shop with my front wheel with new tire installed. Just for the he'll of it I checked the tire rotation in relation to the brake rotors...
Is the rotor stamped left/right as if your *** was on the seat like a car or as if you were looking from the front of the bike?
I failed to examine before dropping it off and I seem to recall an issue with rotors in past history. I tried searching the forum with no luck.
I don't know what year bike you have but on my 07 the rotor marked left goes on the right side and vice versa. The Service Manual confirms this. Left is the left side of the bike - as sitting on it.
More important that the tire rotation is correct by confirming by the arrow on the tire. Switching rotors side to side was a fix for squealing brakes so I don't think it really matters.
..for future reference...in the automotive world...(cars, bikes, trucks...anything with wheels and a motor)...left and right is always from the standpoint of sitting in the drivers seat...in the insurance world when we talk to people who have been in an accident..we always say.."drivers side..or passenger side".....they aren't sure either...
