Default rear swing arm install ??

i am putting my swing arm back on my street glide after being powder coated and noticed some things that i thought id ask about before messing everything up

it was hard to get it to fit over where it mounts to the tranny are those spacers supposed to stick out a little in that middle section of the swing arm?

i got it to fit over the tranny and line up the wholes so the pivot shaft can slide through but it took some convincing with a rubber mallet is that normal?

once i got the shaft through with the inner and outer spacers installed, i went to rotate the swing arm up and down and it took some doing to do so. is the swing arm supposed to move easily up and down and my inner spacers are binding or is there supposed to be some resitance. its not terribly hard to move it but if it is supposed to be frictionless than i def did something wrong.

thanks for the help fellas i am trying to put this thing back together before the sun comes back so i can ride

Do you have a service manual?

You may have to do some creative sanding of the powdercoat to get things to fit right, if you got it anywhere a bushing has to go.

yup got a manual and put everything together by the book. there is no powder coating inside the pivot area so that wouldnt be an issue either

didnt put any on the shaft, but if i turn the nut on one end of the shaft it rotates fine. i think the problem (if any) is where the tranny mount for the swring arm and the actual swing arm meet. maybe the spacers and bearings were pressed to far and are sticking to far out creating to tight of a fit. i dont know

You should put some anti-seize on that shaft, regardless of the other possible issues.

siezed shafts are NO fun to remove! You basically have to cut it out with a sawzall on both sides of the swingarm.....not fun. Best to lube the hell out of it.

ya i dont want that i will take it out and put some anti seize on it thanks fellas but i still dont think that is the cause of the stiffness up and down on the swingarm. am i lookin to much into it? is it supposed to be stiff or should it move up and down easily?

I had mine off awhile back to change the belt, but I honestly don't remember how stiff it was. As long as it swings, I wouldn't over sweat it. Unless it's just super super stiff.......
