Default Dunlop Elite Wear?

I'm getting ready to replace my front which is a D408f 130/80/17 on an 09 EGC with a Dunlop Elite. I got about 16k on the D408. Has anyone had the elites long enough to know if the mileage is comparable? The dealer here wants $250 to put on a D408 and the local Indy gets $150 for a Dunlop American Elite, big difference

Just checked the paperwork on my E3's close to 13000 miles on the pair (installed new together) and they still looks really good, really sorta surprised me on the rear one looking as good as it does. Sure ride and handle better than my stock dunlops every did...the 408 did go better in the grass though.

The mileage is there. Better than most tires I've tried in the past.
They handle well too.

Take your savings and enjoy your Elite's!

i'm extremely happy with my elite III rear tire. now if i can only get my front tire to wear out so i can replace it with the elite III in the front, i'll be using the years rather than miles as to when to check my tread.

Any cupping issues with the rears? I know the 407 had this problem and was wondering if the new tread design changed it.

I don't know about the American Elites for the newer Harley models, but I managed 20k on my first E3 rear tire and the second is wearing at the same rate. That's double the mileage I got from the first two D402's, although YMMV. Oddly, the E3 front looks like it is wearing about on par with the D402F I had on there before, but even if it is no more durable the better handling and lack of groove-tracking makes it a winner.
